Foreign leaders invited to US presidential inauguration for first timePresident-elect Donald Trump has invited foreign leaders to his inauguration, a ceremony that marks a peaceful transition of power in American politics.

In addition to Chinese President Xi Jinping, he has invited conservative international leaders such as Argentine President Javier Miel and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to attend the inauguration ceremony in Washington, D.C. today.

The Chinese president has sent Vice President Han Zheng to represent him. It is the first time a foreign leader has attended a US presidential inauguration. The presidents of Argentina and Paraguay also attended the inauguration ceremony on Saturday night, which was attended by many of the new cabinet nominees.

Today’s inauguration will also be attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, who met with President-elect Trump at the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris last month.
